coffee FAQ

œWhat is the difference between a direct-flame and a semi-hot blast type?

The difference is in the specifications of the griddle of the oven (cylinder) where the green coffee beans are put into the roaster. For further detail, please refer to:
Go to "Roasting coffee beans" ¨"Coffee roaster mechanism"

œHow can I get a strong aroma from the coffee?

To have a coffee of strong taste and aroma, you need to roast the beans in a short time. The longer the roast, the more taste and aroma will be lost. For further detail and to see the graph, refer to the following.
Go to "Roasting coffee beans"¨"Roasting coffee beans"

œHow high should be the temperature in the time of putting the green beans into the roaster?
It can differ to person to person, but DISCOVERY advices that the temperature when you are going to dump the beans in should be between 160 Ž to 180 Ž, and the middle point should be near 100 Ž(the lowest temperature).
If that temperature is low, the middle point will be dropped. The temperature should be changed according to the coffee you want to make.

œDo the taste of coffee differ depending on the gas type that I use? If the gas type changes, how it will affect the heating power?

No, it does not change the coffee taste. At the time of shipment of the coffee roaster, we adjust the gas accordingly. Either using propane or town gas, it does not change the caloric capacity. But in case of town gas, it may happen that in hours where the average usage of gas is high such as during lunchtime, the quantity of gas available for your use can be less.

œDoes the taste of coffee change by the length of the chimney?

Until the end of the chimney, it is considered as the body of a roaster! The taste may change according to the length of the chimney. There are two type of point of view according to specialists.

ƒView 1„
For a coffee roaster with a compulsory exhaust fan, the chimney from the cyclone should be as shorter as possible to keep the balance of the roaster itself.

ƒView 2„
The proportion of the chimney pipe of the cyclone should be vertically twice or three times the horizontal measure. You can feel the difference in the exhaust rate if it the vertical measure is longer. The difference in exhaust efficiency is directly linked with the performance of a roaster. The most important is to know how to adjust the lengh refering to the various existing theories regarding a roaster and to understand the many different point of view of professional in roasting.
